Project Management and Safety in the Construction Sector

Recently, a study was performed to determine if the adoption of a “Total Quality” approach to construction sector projects reduced hazards and other workplace accidents. The following is a brief review of what the project entailed and what it hoped to accomplish:

Essentially, the project set out to study eight to twelve completed construction projects that had sufficient statistical data on accident frequency and severity. Interviews were conducted with management, designers, and Technicians to determine the importance accorded to the Total Quality control in project management.

The study explored the existence of a possible relation between Total Quality approach and construction accidents. It was designed to determine that if such a relation existed, what are its nature and other main characteristics.
